Sant Esteve of Bordils

It was built during the second half of the 16th century in late Gothic style with Renaissance details. Its monumental octagonal bell tower stands out, with pointed openings, gargoyles and balustrades. The façade, built with ashlar masonry, has a decorated doorway and is crowned by a gallery of arcades and, at the ends, by two tall cylindrical ornamental sentry boxes, topped with prominent, sharp conical pinnacles. There is also a magnificent rose window.

The interior of the church is organised into a central nave and three side chapels on each side. The church had a 17th-century Baroque altarpiece that was destroyed in 1936.

The building has undergone various restorations over the last 50 years. The presbytery and interior walls were restored in the early 1980s. Subsequently, in 1994, the façade and pinnacles were restored; in 1996, the roof; and finally, in 2001, the bell tower.
