The Crosa volcano is located between the Selva and Gironès regions, in a flat area dotted with agricultural fields. It is a quiet and very pleasant area due to its proximity to the city of Girona and the airport.
La Crosa is an exceptional volcanic building within the Catalan volcanic field. The violence of its explosions, due to the interaction of magma with underground water, opened a large crater of 1,250 metres in diameter, embedded below the original ground level. These dimensions make it the largest crater on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Western Europe.
The route is circular and 3.46 km long, passing through the centre of the crater of the Crosa volcano. It is a very well signposted route, with a low gradient and suitable for children.
