The municipality of Fornells de la Selva limits in the North with the city of Girona and with a surface of almost 12km2 it has already reached 2600 inhabitants. Regarding its surroundings the town enjoys flat landscapes drained by the river Onyar, which combine crop fields and forest cuttings, where old farmhouses and farmhouses stand out.
Going through Fornells, there is the train that connects Barcelona with Portbou. Therefore, you will find in town the old train station, which nowadays is the headquarters of the Association of the Railway Friends(l’Associació d’Amics del Ferrocarril de les Comarques Gironines) and you will find a mockup of a locomotive and make a tour on a locomotive as well.
At the entrance to the village in the middle of a garden there is also a monument dedicated to the railway. It is a locomotive built around the 60s diesel engine with a weight of 50 tones and a length of eleven meters. It is a museum piece, as there are currently only three in Spain.
