The town of Medinyà has an area of 8 km² and almost 900 inhabitants. It is located on the left side of the Ter River and only 10 minutes from Girona. It stands out the castle of Medinyà, declared as a Cultural Good of National Interest which is located in the northwest corner of the Gavarres massif.
A curious fact is that Medinyà is mentioned in the travel book “Spanien” by Hans Christian Andersen. As a result in 2010 the Fira del Conte of Medinyà was created.
