The Sant Roc chapel crowns the hill of the same name, at a height of 196 metres, southeast of Vilablareix. From here you can enjoy beautiful views of the municipality and its natural surroundings.
It is a single-nave building with a semicircular apse, a door with a monolithic lintel, a Gothic ogee window, an oculus and a bell gable with two openings.
Although it preserves remains from the 15th century, most of the walls date from the 18th and 19th centuries. The chapel was abandoned for years, with only the belfry remaining standing, until its restoration in 2002.
The first known document dates from 1435, when the Girona painter Joan Amigó was commissioned to create an altarpiece for the chapel of Sant Roc.
The pilgrimage, which is held on the second Sunday of Lent, was formerly known as the pilgrimage of the Brides because, according to tradition, all the girls who visited the chapel with devotion were married or had a suitor within a year.
